ABOUT GUDRUN ENGER
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and after 25 years working in project management and marketing communications, I made a deliberate move into interior design. It turned out to be a natural fit. The skills I had built over my career, including managing complex projects, communicating clearly, and keeping things on track and on budget, translated directly into design practice. What I gained was the creative work I had always wanted to do.
I founded Studio Gudrun in 2021, coming out of the pandemic with a clear sense of what I wanted to build: a practice focused on kitchens, baths, and whole-home remodels for Bay Area homeowners who are serious about where they live. I had remodeled my own homes over the years and lived through the process as a homeowner, not just as a designer. That experience shaped how I work with clients. I know where projects go sideways, and I have built my process to prevent it.

What I love most about this work is the problem solving. Space planning, material research, figuring out a tricky design detail that didn't seem to have a good answer, that's where I get energized. Kitchens especially, because I love to cook and bake, and I understand from the inside what a well-designed kitchen actually does for the way you live in your home.

When projects require additional expertise or support, I collaborate with trusted design professionals to make sure the right skills are on your team.
