DESIGN PROCESS
Experience has shown us that having a clear understanding of our process helps our clients feel confident through the duration of the project. Every project begins with a complimentary call or site visit to review your project, discuss scope, and make sure we are a good fit for each other. If we decide to move forward, we develop a scope of work and client agreement. Once contracts are signed, we get to work.
1. DISCOVERY
INITIAL CONSULTATION
Once we are under contract, we schedule an in-depth consultation to understand your goals, functional needs, and aesthetic preferences. This conversation establishes the foundation for your project, aligns expectations around budget, and sets the stage for the work ahead.
2. DESIGN
DESIGN CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
We develop a design concept that reflects your vision and budget, incorporating layout options, material directions, and style references. Mood boards and budget ranges help you visualize and respond to the proposed direction before decisions are finalized.
SPACE PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS
Approved concepts move into detailed space planning and construction documentation, which includes drawings and specifications required for permitting and contractor execution. As a Certified Interior Designer (CID) in California, Studio Gudrun is authorized to prepare and submit construction documents to local building departments for permit review.
MATERIAL, FIXTURES AND FINISHES
We guide you through every selection decision: tile, flooring, countertops, cabinetry, paint, plumbing fixtures, lighting, and hardware. Selections are made with your preferences, budget, durability, and long-term livability in mind.
3. DELIVERY
PROCUREMENT COORDINATION
Once selections are finalized, we manage sourcing and purchasing on your behalf. This includes vendor coordination, order management, delivery tracking, and inspection of arriving materials and furnishings. Our procurement service ensures that what was specified is what gets ordered and installed.
CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT
During construction, we conduct regular site visits to verify that the work in progress reflects the approved design intent. We address design-related questions from your contractor, identify issues before they become problems, and keep your project on track. This is focused, expert oversight to protect your design investment, not full-time construction management.
PROJECT CLOSE-OUT
We conduct a final walkthrough to confirm that all work meets the design specifications, document any outstanding items, and ensure you are satisfied with the outcome.
